During the conference, Sony mentioned that iPhones and iPads will be able to be used as second screens console with a new “PlayStaion App.” Looks like Nintendo isn’t the only gaming outfit playing around with a second screen anymore.
Sony is targeting ios and Android users, propagating in game maps, social networking tools or simply and easier way to access the PlayStation store, users can also watch gameplay from remote screens. These features will also be made available on the PlayStation Vita.
Gamers are questioning the application’s functionality which sounds awful lot like the Wii U GamePad, though Sony hasn’t mentioned if off-screen play via tablet will be a possibility.
The pricing remains unknown, though it is speculated that it will be a free app. There is currently and official PlayStation app in the UK App Store, and based on user reviews, it is “Rubbish.” Hopefully, Sony will prove them wrong in the future.
Sony finally unveils their new game console the “PlayStation 4” that will allow users to stream and play video games hosted on servers. It was announced at an invitation-only event in New York on Wednesday.
It is apparent that the new PlayStation 4 will not be able to stream previous PlayStation 3 games. This flaw renders many video game fans on Twitter and live blogs at Wired and the Verge underwhelmed by the released of the new gaming console.
The PlayStation 4 comes with a new pimped-out hardware that the company claims will virtually eliminate the time video game players must wait for their games to load. The company also added a new “share” button on its controller that will let players capture video clips of their game to play to send to friends.
The 8GB PlayStation 4 can also instantly stream game content from the console to Sony’s handheld PlayStation Vita through a feature called “Remote Play,” said the company.
Rumours about the new controller appears to be true when Mark Cerny lead system architect on PlayStation 4 said that the controller dubbed “DualShock 4” will have a touch pad.
Sony did not announce a price or even display the console itself during the 2 hour long event, but did announce in closing that the device will be available around “holiday 2013,” probably just around the corner before Christmas.
Root access – much like jailbreaks for iOS, except much better. For those who don’t know, root access – commonly known as rooting a device, has been a process many do to their Android device to install custom ROMs and customizing their Android device.
Astonishingly, root access of the much-talked-about Sony Xperia Z has been successfully achieved. What really is amazing is that this was achieved even before the smartphone’s global launch date. The Sony Xperia Z arrived the French shelves yesterday and is expecting to be available in the rest of Europe in two days. Despite this, a recognized developed over at XDA, DooMLoRD has managed to gain root access on the smartphone.
According to the developer, the modification of the CF-Auto-Root for the Nexus 4 smartphone from Google and LG has worked on the Sony Xperia Z, helping him achieve the root access. Unlike iOS jailbreaks who takes lots of beta testing, root access is now available to those who own an Xperia Z as a tutorial for said procedure on the Xperia Z is now available over at XDA forums.
However, it is crucial to note that the process of rooting your Xperia Z involves some rather high risk and would void your warranty for obvious reasons. Proceed with the instructions only if you are sure about what you are doing.
Every gamer out there is anticipating the released of the PlayStation 4. There is new news from the Wall Street Journal suggesting that Sony will be unveiling new streaming capabilities for the device this coming Wednesday.
Rumours are that the PS4 will have the ability to stream games for the PS3 over the internet and it doesn’t end there. Recent reports state that Sony started adopting AMD processors with x86 architecture for the PS4 instead of the PS3’s Cell microprocessor, which would make in incompatible with PS3 game discs. This would cloud gaming the only way for backwards compatibility on the PS4.
A recently posted picture of the PS4’s controller revealed some interesting things about the new generation console. The new remote, which will be the Dualshock 4, features a small touchpad between the D-pad and the traditional buttons.
The prototype controller is a bit rounder and bulkier than its predecessors. Other features include a built-in loudspeaker, integrated PlayStaion Move functionally, and a blue light at the top of the controller.
Sony will probably launch the next PlayStation model in two or three different memory capacities and the $400 price tag most likely applies to the lowest version.
Granted many smartphones can take photos very quickly, but Sony’s Xperia Z is simply amazing. This device manages to be able to take no less than ten frames per second at a decent resolution of 9-megapixel. According to the video below, the device has managed to take an impressive 1000 photos in just 68 seconds.
This jaw-dropping photo-taking capability of the Xperia Z is simply stunning as there is no other smartphone in the world that can take so many shots in so little time. While many will doubt the usefulness of this feature, there are many times where you’ll find yourself in need of a lightning fast camera. For example, taking a picture with numerous people could be tricky with just one shot, the Xperia Z would make it possible for you to choose the best photo among all the others.
Apart from the lightning-fast hardware HDR-capable camera, the Xperia Z also sports a 5-inch Full HD 1080p display, a quad-core Snapdragon S4 Pro clocked at 1.5GHz, Adreno 320, 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internet storage which can be expanded via microSD card. The camera on the Xperia Z is capable of taking pictures at 13-megapixel, however only a maximum of 9-megapixel could be used when taking shots in burst mode.
The Sony Xperia Z will be launched on the 28th of February in Ireland and Finland, with most other countries to come shortly after.
While many other major device manufacturers chose to skip CES in favor of MWC, Sony took full advantage of CES and unpacked their very own flagship variants – Xperia Z and ZL. This Japanese company, which has struggled to make a name for itself in the highly-competitive high-end Android smartphone market, hit the ball out of the park with their recently announced, upcoming flagship devices – Xperia Z and the Xperia ZL.
Both the recently unveiled flagships are very similar to each other, with the only several major differences being a more compact form factor of the Xperia ZL and the fact that the Xperia Z is dust and water resistant. Knowing many would have trouble deciding between the two devices, Sony has decided to make it easier for potential buyers by showing the advantage of the Xperia Z over the latter in several slow-motion videos called “Xperimentations”, showing the Xperia Z being doused in ink, water and dust. Without a doubt, the device was still working perfectly fine after the show.
Here are some of the videos, be sure to watch them in HD for more Xperia pleasure.
